چکیده

Inverse problems in statistical physics are motivated by the challenges of ‘big data’ in different fields, in particular high-throughput experiments in biology. In inverse problems, the usual procedure of statistical physics needs to be reversed: Instead of calculating observables on the basis of model parameters, we seek to infer parameters of a model based on observations. In this review, we focus on the inverse Ising problem and closely related problems, namely how to infer the interactions between spins given observed spin correlations, magnetisations, or other data. We review applications of the inverse Ising problem, including the reconstruction of neural interactions, protein structure determination, and the inference of gene regulatory networks. For the inverse Ising problem in equilibrium, a number of controlled and uncontrolled approximate solutions have been developed in the statistical mechanics community. A particularly strong method, pseudolikelihood, stems from statistics. We also review the inverse Ising problem in the non-equilibrium case, where the model parameters must be reconstructed based on non-equilibrium statistics.

Statistical mechanics of the inverse Ising problem and the optimal objective function

The inverse Ising problem seeks to reconstruct the parameters of an Ising Hamiltonian on the basis of spin configurations sampled from the Boltzmann measure. Over the last decade, many applications of the inverse Ising problem have arisen, driven by the advent of large-scale data across different scientific disciplines. Recently, strategies to solve the inverse Ising problem based on convex opt...

A Uniqueness Theorem of the Solution of an Inverse Spectral Problem

This paper is devoted to the proof of the unique solvability ofthe inverse problems for second-order differential operators withregular singularities. It is shown that the potential functioncan be determined from spectral data, also we prove a uniquenesstheorem in the inverse problem.

An Analytical Solution for Inverse Determination of Residual Stress Field

An analytical solution is presented that reconstructs residual stress field from limited and incomplete data.  The inverse problem of reconstructing residual stresses is solved using an appropriate form of the airy stress function.  This function is chosen to satisfy the stress equilibrium equations together with the boundary conditions for a domain within a convex polygon.  The analytical solu...

A novel computational procedure based on league championship algorithm for solving an inverse heat conduction problem

Inverse heat conduction problems, which are one of the most important groups of problems, are often ill-posed and complicated problems, and their optimization process has lots of local extrema. This paper provides a novel computational procedure based on finite differences method and league championship algorithm to solve a one-dimensional inverse heat conduction problem. At the beginning, we u...

Solving random inverse heat conduction problems using PSO and genetic algorithms

The main purpose of this paper is to solve an inverse random differential equation problem using evolutionary algorithms. Particle Swarm Algorithm and Genetic Algorithm are two algorithms that are used in this paper. In this paper, we solve the inverse problem by solving the inverse random differential equation using Crank-Nicholson's method. Then, using the particle swarm optimization algorith...
